Hey Folks! Make sure you turn off your grill when you're finished using it so you don't cause a fire!

Tip of the Day!

Joe MacFawn - Thursday, June 02, 2011
Hey Folks! Especially with this windy weather, make sure to watch out for tree limbs or debris that could fall and do damage to your roof or other part of your home!

Tip of the Day!

Hey Folks! Make sure you're gutters are cleaned out and free of debris so that when it rains, the water can flow freely and won't create a mold condition!

Tip of the Day!

Joe MacFawn - Monday, June 06, 2011
Hey Folks! Make sure when you're finished with roasting marshmallows around the campfire or fire pit, you extinguish the fire. Always have a bucket of water nearby incase the fire gets too big. Never make a campfire on a windy day because the ash and flames could get blown around and cause anything nearby to catch on fire!

Tip of the Day!

Joe MacFawn - Tuesday, June 07, 2011
Hey Folks! If you happen to discover a mold condition in your house, do NOT try to take care of it yourself. Disturbing the mold will cause millions of mold spores to be released into the air that could not only get into your ventillation sytem, but could also cause you to have a hyperallergic reaction that will cause serious respiratory problems. Instead, call your friends at MacFawn Fire and Flood Restoration to take care of it for you!

Tip of the Day!

Joe MacFawn - Monday, July 18, 2011
Hey Folks! It's only Monday, but this week promises to be another scorcher. With these hot temperatures there can be thunderstorms, which can be severe. Make sure that if severe weather should strike, you find your way to a safe location.

Tip of the Day!

Joe MacFawn - Tuesday, July 19, 2011
Hey Folks! Can you say heat wave?! It's important to remember that hot weather usually brings with it severe thunderstorms. Make sure you know if the area surrounding your home is at risk for flash flooding or other weather related hazards, so that you can plan accordingly in the event of a damaging storm!

Tip of the Day!

Joe MacFawn - Wednesday, July 20, 2011
Hey Folks! Is it hot enough for you?! It's important to remember that along with this excess heat comes humidity. This is because in many homes, attics and basements may not be air conditioned. High humidity can help to provide the moist conditions for mold to begin to grow in your home especially in non air conditioned attics or basements. Try putting a dehumidifier in your attic or basement to draw the excess water out of the air.

Hey Folks! Make sure you and your family have and are familiar with a disaster emergency plan. The plan should cover what to do in all types of natural disasters including fires, floods, hurricanes, and tornadoes. It should also cover what to do in the event of hazardous chemical spills, nuclear power plant meltdowns, terrorist attacks, or any other man made disasters. Remember, protecting your family means putting safety first!

Hey Folks! As much as we may or may not want to admit it, summer is quickly coming to a close. Most of us are getting ready for kids to go back to school and for the fall. When those leaves start to fall make sure to keep them away from your gutters so that they don't cause clogs!

Hey Folks! It's time to start thinking about winterizing your home. It is especially important that if you have a sump pump that it is free and clear of debris, so that water can freely flow out of it. This will help ensure that you don't have any issues with back ups!

Tip of the Day!

Tip of the Day!

Joe MacFawn - Friday, September 30, 2011

Tip of the Day!

Joe MacFawn - Friday, October 07, 2011
Hey Folks! It's certainly getting chillier outside, so make sure you're prepared for winter. Start by adding a second layer of insulation to your attic. R-30 insulation is considered the minimum. If your house is relatively new, it probably conforms. If not, consider adding insulation!
