Depending on the damage, we board up any windows, doors, or openings to prevent looting and further damage from weather. In addition to boarding up any vulnerable areas, our staff takes base readings of the property. These readings consist of computerized measurements of water damage and other important factors that assist in the evaluation process. This helps determine what steps to take next, and offers proof of the damage for insurance purposes.

MacFawn utilizes every know method for removing water from surfaces.
Saturated ceilings and walls are unstable and can collapse. Standing water is home to disease and can help breed mold. Water damage mitigation is a systematic drying of the home, utilizing a series of steps to reduce mold growth and properly dry out the floors, walls, ceilings, and furnishings. Ninety percent of the time, our team can dry carpets on location, using special equipment that controls drying for minimum shrinkage.
During the drying process, which typically takes three to five days, our crew begins a factory-like procedure known as the Pack Out and Peel Back. The Pack Out entails sorting through damaged property to establish what items are possible to salvage. Once the salvageable items are determined, they are run through a meticulous process of cleaning to restore them to their condition before the incident. After the Pack Out has concluded, the staff performs a Peel Back, which allows us to isolate the source of the damage and work our way back out. Water damage is a major issue in restoration because water takes whatever course it can downward. Because of this fact, much of the damage is often hidden inside of walls, floors, and ceilings. The Peel Back is invaluable to the process and ensures that the house is dry and the mold risk is truly mitigated.
